This reconstruction from 1959 was presented at the exhibition Constant: ruimte + kleur at the Cobra Museum in 2016. In Constant's first solo exhibition Constructies en maquettes at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam from 4 May 1959 till 8 June 1959, Constant presents his models on black planes with black backgrounds with projections of coloured lights. Resonating with the movie Gyromorphosis by film maker Hy Hirsch, which premiered in Brussels during Expo 58 and was shown during this exhibition.

Although Constant officially dated this plastic sculpture to 1959, he had made a first version of it back in 1956. A photo from an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in 1956 shows that this version appears less skewed than it does today.
In addition to the form, the title of the work also underwent several changes. At the retrospective exhibition of Constant's work in Kunstmuseum Den Haag in 1965, the construction, in its present form, was exhibited under the title “Ruimteschip” (“Space Ship”).
